On Friday, January 24, Mayor Mike Fuesser, City Manager Dalton Pierce, and Utilities Director Ben Wright traveled to Columbia, South Carolina, to receive the Power of Partnerships Award from Lt. Governor Pamela Evette and the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES). This distinguished award recognizes the collaborative efforts of local governments and organizations in promoting watershed planning and protection across York County and its surrounding areas. The Watershed Evaluation Team (WET), is a working group composed of stakeholders from various jurisdictions in York County, including Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill, the City of York, York County, the Catawba Regional Council of Governments, and the Catawba Indian Nation. Through their joint efforts, WET has developed watershed plans for the region and is actively working to implement targeted improvements.
