The primary mission of the York Police Department is crime prevention and the protection of life and property. The basis, however, of all police action is the law, and the credibility of the law enforcement profession will be measured by its concern and contributions to public welfare and by the guidance it provides to its employees towards achieving a high level of ethical practice.
Get Ready for the 2026 York Police Department Youth Summer Camp!
We are thrilled to announce that the City of York Police Department will be conducting a Youth Summer Camp this year! This one-week long camp is an exciting opportunity for kids to have fun, stay active, and learn directly from our local public safety heroes.
Camp Details at a Glance
- Dates: The camp will be from June 1-June 5, 2026.
- Time: Daily from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m..
- Location: The Rec Center, located at 21 White Rose Lane.
- Ages: The summer camp is designed for children age 8-12. Space is limited to just 30 participants!
- Cost: The camp is free of charge.
What to Expect
The summer camp will consist of exposing youth to different areas of public safety. The day will begin with a brief meeting and then activities such as football, softball, basketball, etc.. Then there will be guests arriving for each event of the day. York Police Department School Resource Officers will be participating throughout the week.
Campers will get to meet and learn from dedicated professionals with the following daily schedule:
- Monday: Police Services
- Tuesday: EMS
- Wednesday: Fire Department
- Thursday: York County K9, Emergency Management, and Bomb Squad
- Friday: Atrium Health Med Center Air helicopter
After lunch more activities or movies will be provided.
Lunch is Provided!
You don't have to worry about packing food, because lunch will be provided. Here is the delicious menu planned for the week:
- Monday: Peanut butter/jelly crustables
- Tuesday: Grilled Cheese
- Wednesday: Hotdogs
- Thursday: Hamburgers
- Friday: Pizza
(Note: Parents may also indicate on the application if they will be providing their child's lunch. Please note any food allergies on the form.)
Important Information for Parents
Parents are responsible for having their child (ren) at the Rec Center (21 White Rose Lane) at 9 a.m. and picking them up at 2 p.m.. To register, parents must fill out an application detailing emergency contact numbers, the child's medical condition if any, and any medications the child will have on their person. A signed Release of Liability for participants is also required before your child is allowed to participate in the program.
Spaces will fill up fast for this 30-camper limit, so be sure to secure your child's spot for a memorable week of fun and learning!
