Can you tell us about your role?
I am a Residential Building Inspector in the Planning and Development Department. My role includes performing inspections throughout the building process and working with homeowners, contractors, and builders to help ensure projects are completed safely and comply with all applicable building and City codes.

How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have been with the City of York for two years. I was looking for a position that was close to home and allowed me to work in the construction field. This role has given me the opportunity to combine my interest in construction with serving my hometown.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most is building relationships with contractors, builders, and homeowners while helping guide them through the construction process. It's rewarding to be part of the City's growth and to know that my work helps create safe, quality homes for our community. I also enjoy serving others and working alongside such a great team of coworkers.

What's a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
One accomplishment I'm especially proud of is earning multiple ICC certifications and continuing to pursue additional certifications. Expanding my knowledge allows me to better serve the community, provide accurate guidance, and continue growing as a building inspector.

Can you tell us about your role?
I work as a scorekeeper for youth baseball and softball games, and I also teach tumbling classes.

How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I’ve been with the City of York for three years. I spent a lot of time at the ball fields because my mom coached softball. When I saw there were part-time positions that fit around my school schedule, I knew it would be a great opportunity.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love getting to know all the kids and watching them grow each season. It’s so rewarding to see how much they improve as they move through the different age divisions and become more confident in their abilities.

What’s a work-related accomplishment you’re really proud of?
I’m really proud of how much I’ve learned about softball and baseball. Now I have a much better understanding of both sports.

Can you tell us about your role?
I am the Records Clerk for the Police Department. I handle the reports, take care of most of the FOIAs for the department, and fulfill the Discoveries on criminal cases for the Defense, along with other odds and end tasks.

How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have been back with the city for about 8 months. I was here previously as a dispatcher for several years. The entire time I was gone, I wished I never had left. There is such a sense of belonging here, and we are all so close-knit. We know each other's families and share a bond I can’t explain. We really are one big family.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy most that nothing in my job is ever the same, there are always different tasks to do, different cases to deal with, and different people in the community to help. It is challenging and rewarding all at the same time. But mostly, that I still get to put the headset on every so often and help in dispatch when needed.

What’s a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
Being able to step into this role with no prior experience and really make the Records Department my own.
