I serve as the Main Street Coordinator for the City of York, where I focus on economic development and the revitalization of our historic downtown. My role is really about connecting people, ideas, and resources to help create a vibrant and welcoming downtown for both our community and visitors.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I’ve been with the City of York for about eight months. What drew me to this role was the opportunity to be part of something meaningful, especially on the development side of the work. York has so much potential, and I was excited to be part of that momentum and growth.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most is working and collaborating with different people. It’s rewarding to see those connections grow and turn into real progress over time, even in small ways.
What’s a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve been able to build in a short amount of time. Building trust and creating a space where people feel heard has helped lay a strong foundation for the work we’re doing, and it’s been rewarding to see that begin to move new ideas forward for downtown York.

Can you tell us about your role?
I serve as Planner II in the Planning & Development Department, where I review subdivision plats, site plans, and other development proposals. I have the pleasure of serving as staff liaison to the Planning Commission and aid the public and development professionals with zoning and land development inquiries. I get to do a little bit of everything, from assisting community members with zoning questions about their lots, to reviewing major site plans for commercial and residential development.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have been with the City of York since September 2025, although I received intern experience with the city in the summer of 2022 as well! I was drawn to this position because it gives me the opportunity to serve my community in a profession that I love.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the opportunity to serve members of the community while working alongside a great group of professionals that are just as passionate about public service. Facilitating communication between staff, development professionals, public officials, and the community is a critical part of my job that I enjoy every day.
What’s a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
I am excited to have been part of recent changes in our department such as creating comprehensive meeting packets that promote accessibility and transparency for our Planning Commission meetings.
Can you tell us about your role?
I am the Backflow Coordinator and the Administrative Assistant for the Utilities Department. This position allows me to serve as a liaison between the public and the Utilities Department.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have been with the City of York for about 6 years. I started out as the Administrative Assistant and the need for a Backflow Coordinator arose. I stepped up to the challenge. I enjoy the opportunities this promotion has brought me.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the networking opportunity my job provides. I work with backflow testers and other organizations connected to the city.

I had the opportunity to present at a backflow workshop.
Can you tell us about your role?
As Deputy Chief of Operations and Training Coordinator, I oversee the day-to-day operations of the department to ensure personnel understand their assignments and have the equipment, resources, and support needed to complete them. I work closely with the administrative staff to maintain appropriate staffing levels for each shift, particularly when personnel are absent or vacancies occur. In addition, I am responsible for planning, scheduling, and overseeing all department training to ensure our personnel remain prepared, compliant, and operationally effective.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have been a member of the York Fire Dept. since June 2000. I began as a volunteer and was hired full-time in January 2011. Before I became a member of the Dept. I became friends with a few of the members and liked what they were doing as they served the community and decided to join.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy helping others in need, and I enjoy the fact that each day brings something different.
What’s a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
One accomplishment I am proud of is having the opportunity to start my career as a firefighter and progress through the department to my current position. That growth has allowed me to gain experience and perspective over the years, and being able to use that experience to help guide, train, and support others as they begin their careers within the department.
Can you tell us about your role?
I am assigned to the York Police Department’s Traffic Unit, where my primary responsibility is enforcing traffic laws to help keep the roadways in York safe for everyone.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have been with the York Police Department for over nine years. I was born and raised in York, so serving the community where I grew up—and where I still live—has always been important to me.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most is every day is different, and no two shifts are ever the same, which keeps the job both challenging and rewarding.
What’s a work-related accomplishment you’re really proud of?
One accomplishment I’m especially proud of is being named Officer of the Year in 2025. It means a lot to me because it was voted on by my peers.
