Can you tell us about your role?
I oversee our Utility Billing Department as the Utility Billing Manager. Mainly, I handle escalated customer complaints, updating department policies and ordinances, approving and reporting monthly utility bills, and yearly audit reporting.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have been with the city for almost 2 full years. I have handled payables, receivables, and tax reporting for companies for the last 8 years. I have always lived in the City of York area except for college in Spartanburg, SC. So, getting the chance to serve my city was a big selling point when my position was created.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
My team is excellent and really knows how to operate without being micromanaged, so I am able to look into ways to help update how the city operates with information on the website, how we communicate with customers on their bills, and hopefully even one day moving to a more digital process for all our paperwork!
What’s a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
I recently completed my master’s degree in business administration which helped me gain further insight into how businesses work with technology, labor needs, equipment costs, and more. I think that alone will open up a lot of doors for me to have input and keep being a valuable asset to the City and the residents within our boundaries.
Can you tell us about your role?
I'm the buildings and grounds supervisor for parks and recreation. We’re responsible forgetting all the ballfields ready for games, as well as making sure everything is clean, cut,and all our facilities are working properly.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I’ve been with the City about 16 years. I started part time and worked my way into this position when I got a chance. I watched the guys out here for years and wanted to do that.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I get to be outside, and there are always different things to take care of or work on, so every day is a little different. We get to interact with the public a lot and I enjoy seeing them use our facilities!
What’s a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
Well, I think we’ve put together a great staff in maintenance and we’re constantly learning new and better ways to do things. We all work together and look forward to making everything look even better in the future!
Can you tell us about your role?
I'm the person behind the phone and the radio helping keep officers and the community safe.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I've been with the city of York for almost a year. The close-knit community and agency made me want to be a part of this great team.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy helping people, supporting our officers, and knowing that what I do makes a difference every day.
What’s a work-related accomplishment you're really proud of?
Being voted for spotlight of the month by my peers.
Can you tell us about your role?
I respond to fire, medical and wreck emergencies.
How long have you been with the City of York, and what drew you to this position?
I have worked for York Fire Department for 10 months.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Being able to do a job I've always enjoyed doing with people that’s became close friends.
