What do you need to know about FOIA? 

The South Carolina Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is part of the South Carolina Code of Laws allowing any citizen to have access to public records and to meetings of public bodies with some exceptions as defined in the Act.

All requests should be submitted to the Municipal Clerk. All requests related to the police department will be forwarded by the Municipal Clerk to the Public Information Officer.

The following is a schedule of fees for FOIA Request:

  • Documents  $0.25 per page
  • Portable Storage Devices (CDs/USBs)  $12.00 per device
  • Search and Retrieval of Records - Actual per hour dollar cost of staff time
  • Postage and Shipping Fees - Actual cost of mailing or shipping records to requestor
