Downtown York Business Navigator Program
The Downtown York Business Navigator Program is available to assist new and existing businesses within the City of York’s B-1 Historic District.
If you are opening, relocating, expanding, renovating, changing ownership, or have questions about doing business in Downtown York, Main Street York can help connect you with the appropriate City departments and guide you through the process.
The program is intended to provide an additional point of contact for downtown businesses and to assist with navigating items such as zoning, business licensing, fire inspections, and other City related approvals.

Here is a helpful guide to navigating the process of opening a business in the City of York - Your Path to Opening a Business in the City of York
If your business has a brick-and mortar location in the City of York, you will be required to complete zoning and fire compliance before obtaining your business license. To achieve this, you will need to submit a Place of Business application to the Planning Department. All food trucks, push-carts, food trailers, etc. must pass a fire inspection prior to getting a business license. To get an inspection scheduled with the fire department, you must complete a Place of Business application. The Planning Department requires that site plans and owner permission letters be kept on file and approved prior to setting up.
If your business is operated in your home within the City of York, you must receive zoning approval before obtaining your business license. Submit a Home Occupation Application to the Planning Department to apply for zoning approval.

Renewal Applications are due by April 30 of each year. Penalties will begin accruing by May 1.
